A series of articles I've read and conversations I've had, have led me to conclude that we all need to program our phones to have widely-read or -viewed news outlets on our phones' speed-dialing lists.
You see it a lot, whenever a company has a captive audience, that it'll try to rip off its customers. Examples from my experience include Toyota of America, Follett Higher Education Group, Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, AT&T Wireless and Aramark, to name a few. Examples from the general circulation? Well, health insurers, primarily, plus Wal-Mart (no, I'm not biased against them at all ;). Also, on occasion, any other large corporation.
It's even occasionally the case with the government, except whereas most corporations only have power over your money, your government has the power to detain you or threaten you with bodily harm.
